About Paige Halvorson, MD
Paige Halvorson, M.B.S., MD, is a board-certified Physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southdale ObGyn. The practice has two locations with offices in Edina and Burnsville, Minnesota.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C, followed by her Master of Biological Science degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Halvorson comes to Southdale OBGYN from Health Partners, Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she practiced since 2017. Prior to that, she was an Employee Physician at the Raleigh OBGYN Centre in North Carolina.
Memberships, leadership, and awards include:
· American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
· F. Bayard Carter Society
· Charles B. Hammond, MC, Research Day—Resident Research, First Place
· Clinton and Gilber Beirne Endowed Medical Scholarship
· Obstetrics and Gynecology Section Head, Regions Hospital
· Category II Fetal Heart Tracing Work Group, Obstetrics and Gynecology
While in medical school, Dr. Halvorson explored a variety of fields of medicine and decided to pursue OBGYN because it combined many of the facets where she flourished. It also afforded her the opportunity to treat a wide range of patients—from infants to 90-plus years old. She considers the connections and trust she builds with her patients to be a privilege.
Some of Dr. Halvorson’s special interests include abnormal uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, minimally invasive surgery and high-risk pregnancy. Her style of care is to be honest and forthright, providing her patients with all the information they need to make a decision that is right for them. “I’ll also be the one calling a patient at 9 pm with a pathology report if I know the patient can’t sleep until it comes back,” she said.
The mother of two seven-year-old twin boys, Dr. Halvorson lives in Bloomington and enjoys working and living the community where she practices. She and her husband, also a physician, enjoy family activities with their sons such as rooting on the Minnesota Twins, downhill skiing and fishing—on both ice and open water. Sometimes, their 12-year-old Sheltie dog, Wilbur, gets to join in the fun.
She joined Southdale ObGyn in the Fall of 2023, eager to collaborate with the team that is welcoming, practices evidence-based medicine and is on the cutting edge of the latest surgical techniques. “The team at Southdale ObGyn is a more traditionally professional team who care tremendously for patients and fellow team members.”
