About Liz Crandall, MD
Liz Crandall, MD, is a board-certified Physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southdale ObGyn. The practice has two locations with offices in Edina and Burnsville, Minnesota.
She earned her Bachelor of Science at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, followed by her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) in Minneapolis. She completed her residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, now called Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital – St. Joseph Campus.

Dr. Crandall always wanted to be a doctor and presumed she would attend medical school. Self-aware, she knew she wasn’t a salesperson and exclaimed, “I couldn’t sell you shoes if you were barefoot!”
She desired a career where she could provide people with something they need and not convince them that they need something when they don’t. She found her calling in medicine and has worked in the health care industry ever since.
Today she enjoys the connections she makes with her patients over the years — delivering their babies, then caring for them through the later stages of life. She enjoys taking care of grandmas, moms, and daughters.
Dr. Crandall believes that reading people and understanding what they want and need is important.
The mother of two daughters, Dr. Crandall, says her perfect day off calls for a skinny vanilla latte, a massage, and time spent simply watching water — the river flow, the waves of the lakes, or the cascade of Minnehaha Falls. “Watching water relaxes me,” she says with a smile.
She also enjoys needlepoint, a skill that enhances her talent in the operating room. She is very precise with her stitches.
