About Katherine Nelson, MD
I strive to make every patient feel heard, respected, and comfortable throughout their care. I believe in taking the time to understand each patient as an individual and partnering with them to make decisions about their health. My goal is to provide compassionate, thoughtful, and evidence-based care that reflects each patient’s unique needs and goals.
I had not envisioned myself becoming a doctor when I was a child. I wanted to be a teacher, like my mother, and loved the idea of giving students the knowledge and tools they needed to succeed. My path eventually led me to medicine through my love of anatomy and physiology, but my passion for teaching has stayed with me and continues to shape the way I care for my patients.
I love being able to combine medicine with education in my daily work. I enjoy helping patients understand what is happening with their bodies, talking through their options, and making sure they have the information they need to feel confident in their health decisions. To me, being a physician is not just about providing medical care, but also about helping patients feel informed and empowered along the way.
Outside of medicine, I love spending as much time as possible outdoors with my husband, son, and our golden retriever. We enjoy exploring Minnesota’s wonderful parks and trails, and when I’m not chasing after a toddler or a dog, you can often find me cooking, gardening, or practicing yoga.
