About Taryn McEvoy, MD

Care philosophy: I feel it is important for a patient and physician to work together to provide the best care for each patient as an individual to improve their quality of life.

I have always wanted to be a physician but it wasn’t until medical school that I realized I wanted to be an ObGyn. I chose ObGyn because it is a happy and fun part of medicine. It is always the highlight of my day seeing the expressions on my patients’ faces when they hear their baby’s heartbeat for the first time. And it’s always exciting to get a call to deliver a baby, even if it is 2 am! I am lucky to be part of my patient’s experience. Now in practice for several years, I have discovered a passion for preventive care and like to work with my patients to help them stay healthy or become healthier. I take a “team” approach to the doctor-patient relationship and feel it is important for a patient and physician to work together to provide the best care for each woman to improve her quality of life. There is no “perfect” birth control or treatment for heavy menstrual bleeding but there is the “best” birth control or treatment option for each patient.

I am married and my husband and I are the happy parents of two boys. Because we dealt with infertility with both of my pregnancies, I feel I am able to relate to the struggles of my patients. As the medical director of our infertility services, there are many things that we can do at Oakdale ObGyn to help couples achieve pregnancy and parenthood. I experienced first hand the excellent care of Oakdale ObGyn and Maple Grove Hospital when I delivered my second son in December 2011.

I grew up in Minnetonka but now Maple Grove is home. Being a physician, a wife, and a mother of two boys keeps me completely happy and busy. We stay active by biking, walking, or snow shoeing on the trail in Maple Grove. I also enjoy yoga and photography.
