About Kim Plessel, MS, RDN, LD
Care philosophy: Each of us holds the key to our own health. I put a lot of value on partnering with you to use food to help enhance your well-being.
Nutrition is an ever-evolving field that impacts each and every one of us, whether we are investing in our health, celebrating our culture, connecting with others or just savoring good food. As a dietitian with over 20 years of experience, I value the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships with each patient. We’ve all heard that “food is medicine” but how we each translate and apply this concept into our daily eating patterns is only effective if it is personal and enjoyable. To support diverse paths to wellness, I have specialized in intuitive eating, functional nutrition and women’s health with emphasis on PCOS, endometriosis, pregnancy, gestational diabetes and menopause.
Enhancing our lifestyle patterns can feel daunting and overwhelming at times, yet hopeful and profoundly powerful. Listening and personally connecting with each patient allows me to creatively partner with them to identify small, sustainable improvements that can be transformational over time. Changing our behaviors is a very individualized process and each person holds the key to their own health. My role is to support you in your endeavors by staying current on nutrition research specific to your health needs; highlighting therapeutic foods and supportive eating patterns; discussing intuitive and mindful ways to navigate social and emotional eating; and helping you sift through all of the media claims of popular diets and supplements so you can design a personal, safe and effective approach for vitality and health.
I am fortunate to be a part of the Oakdale ObGyn team as I have been a patient here since 2006. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful experience here as we started our family. We have had two beautiful children, Isaac and Lilah. I continue to enjoy Oakdale’s support to live well. In my free-time, I enjoy spending time with my family in the Elm Creek Park Reserve. We enjoy running, biking and cross-country skiing. I love cooking and trying new foods. As a busy mom, I also value my quiet time by practicing yoga.
