General Position Description:
OBGYN West, with clinic locations in Minnetonka, Chaska, Eden Prairie, and Waconia, is seeking a full-time Patient Support Services Specialist – Front Desk. This position is Monday-Friday with hours ranging from 7:45am-5:15pm . Primary locations will be Minnetonka, Chaska and Eden Prairie, but travel to Waconia may be necessary based on staffing needs. The duties as a Patient Support Services Specialist (front desk) include greeting patients, checking in patient appointments, verifying insurance and demographic information, collecting and processing payments, ensuring patients are communicated with regarding extended wait times, checking out patient appointments, and scheduling follow up appointments as needed. Other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates a welcoming atmosphere by greeting patients and guests to our clinic.
- Ensures staff are notified of visitors or vendors and manages visitor process.
- Collecting and processing patient balance payments and co-payments.
- Verifying insurance and scanning insurance cards into our system.
- Completing necessary intake paperwork.
- Ensure the waiting rooms are clean and provide a welcoming environment for patients.
- Accurately scheduling patient appointments and communicating with scheduling staff.
- Communicating with patients regarding any extended wait times or other delays.
- Maintain confidentiality of all providers, staff, and patient information.
- Adhere to policies regarding safety, confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support OBGYN West’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

- Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong working knowledge of electronic health records, especially patient demographics, and scheduling.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a medical or business environment required; clinic setting preferred.
- High school diploma or GED Required.
- Previous experience using electronic health records, especially patient demographics, scheduling, and Athena experience preferred.
- Experience and understanding of insurance guidelines preferred.
