What is a Minimally Invasive Surgery?
A minimally invasive surgery allows our providers to diagnose and address certain gynecological conditions through a less invasive approach. Compared to other surgical procedures, incisions are small or otherwise non-existent. If an incision is needed, the same incision can be used to safely insert any tools needed to complete the procedure.
The tools for minimally invasive surgeries are thin and give your provider access to your reproductive organs. These procedures will likely be performed under anesthesia for your comfort.
What Are the Benefits of Minimally Invasive Procedures?
If you need a gynecological procedure done, your provider may recommend a minimally invasive one to improve your post-surgery experience and support your overall health. Minimally invasive surgeries can result in significantly less pain and a decreased recovery period. Depending on the procedure, some women are able to return to their day with no issues.
Along with less recovery and pain, minimally invasive procedures decrease the risk of infection and internal bleeding. This is a direct result of utilizing small incisions, which also result in less scarring.
