Medical Assistant

General Position Description:

OBGYN WEST, a division of Premier ObGyn of Minnesota, is currently seeking a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will provide support to the clinic physicians while performing various office and clinical duties to keep the healthcare practice running efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patient for examination and treatment; takes brief patient history that includes chief complaint, vital signs, and weight; assists physician with procedures; urine specimens; provides patient instructions per physician’s order; conducts authorized in-office tests.
  • Proactively reviews chart in advance of patient intake. Completes all authorized patient chart documentation in an accurate, legible, and timely manner.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the examination rooms. Accurately and promptly sets up examination rooms, materials, and equipment. Proactively monitors required stock level per practice procedure and anticipates unique supply needs for patients/provider.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Meet and exceed patient expectations and adhere to established practices while assuring the best possible care for patients.

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and clinical competencies
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other rules and regulations in the healthcare industry
  • Must be organized and dependable with excellent patient service skills
  • High level of professionalism and teamwork abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience:

  • Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program. Certificate program preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 1-year private practice medical assistant experience preferred in an ObGyn clinic
  • EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)

This full-time position working 40 hours per week. We offer a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a 401k plan.
