Patient Registration Specialist

General Position Description:

We are seeking a Patient Registration Specialists for our Maple Grove, Blaine and Plymouth locations. Patient Registration Specialists are the first point of contact for our patients in our healthcare facility and are responsible for interacting with our patients and managing administrative tasks for the medical team. Duties include greeting patients, scheduling patient appointments, verifying insurance, completing necessary intake paperwork, and processing payments. The Patient Registration Specialist will work closely with patients, providers, and other clinician staff in a fast-paced environment. Hours can range from 6:30am-7:30pm with occasional weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates a welcoming atmosphere by greeting patients and guests to our clinic.
  • Performs timely and accurate registration, check-in functionality notification of patient arrival of all patients.
  • Collecting patient balances and co-payments.
  • Verifying insurance and scanning insurance cards into our system.
  • Accurately scheduling patient appointments and communicating with scheduling staff.
  • Conducts courteous and professional communication with the institutional schedulers, staff, and patients.
  • Identifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling results.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all providers, staff, and patient information.
  • Adhere to policies regarding safety, confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Oakdale ObGyn’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong working knowledge of electronic medical records, especially patient demographics, and scheduling.

Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED Required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a medical or business environment required; clinic setting preferred.
  • Previous experience using electronic medical records, especially patient demographics, scheduling, and Athena experience preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of insurance guidelines preferred.
  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Medical terminology: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred)

Schedule

  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
