Job Summary
MetroPartners OBGYN looking for a qualified Surgery Scheduling Lead to join our team. This is a working Lead position that supports the efficient and financially responsible work related to surgery scheduling. Primary functions will be to conduct pre-authorizations for surgical procedures via use of insurance portals. This individual will be responsible for addressing claim denials, sending appeal letters, collaboratiing with the surgery locations, etc. to ensure that surgical procedures being scheduled will be covered by appropriate payer(s). This position will also regularly perform surgery scheduling duties, including review of Medical Policy guidelines to ensure timely processing of surgical orders.
Essential Job Functions:
- *Review medical record and clinical order/documentation to ensure Medical Policy has been met.
- *Obtain pre-authorization of services via insurance portals.
- *Monitor status of authorizations; address denials and appeals as needed.
- *Communicate with payers, patients, and physicians.
- *Communicate/problem solve with schedulers and surgery center/hospital staff re: surgery scheduling concerns.
- *Accurately and efficiently schedule surgical procedures using multiple scheduling and tracking applications.
- *Maintain accurate documentation of scheduling actions.
- *Communicate details and ensure collection of pre-payment for procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
- *Strong understanding of medical terminology, especially terms related to OB/GYN surgery.
- *Excellent communication skills.
- *Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
- *Organized with good follow through of duties.
- *Ability to work efficiently in an independent manner.
- *Ability to work well with different cultures and languages.
Work and Education Qualifications:
- *High school diploma or GED required (AA degree preferred).
- *2-years of scheduler experience required.
- *Experience with surgery scheduling highly preferred.
- *Experience with insurance verification preferred.
- *Experience as a Lead preferred.
